Mark Hackel and Eric Smith Endorse Steve Bieda for County Clerk/Register of Deeds
Bieda Is the Only Candidate With the Proven Record Of Principled Leadership Needed To Restore Stability to the Clerk's Office, Hackel Says
WARREN, MI — Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel and Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith today both endorsed State Senator Steve Bieda (D-Warren) for Macomb County Clerk and Register of Deeds.
Bieda has vowed that he will restore sensibility and integrity to the Clerk’s Office after a judge in March removed Karen Spranger as Clerk.
“Steve Bieda is the only candidate with the proven record of principled leadership needed to restore sensibility and stability to the Clerk's Office. We need a leader who isn’t tied to Karen Spranger or any insider deals in our county. I know that Steve will be a strong, steady hand to lead the Macomb County Clerk’s Office at this critical time, and that’s why he has my full support,” said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel.
In his more than 13 years serving in the Michigan House and Senate, Bieda has been a leader on holding politicians to high ethical standards, fighting foreclosures, and protecting and strengthening the right to vote. Bieda was named MIRS’ 2017 “Michigan Democrat of the Year.”
“As the son of a veteran, Steve Bieda will stand up for veterans every day as Macomb County Clerk and Register of Deeds and help those facing foreclosure. There is only one person who has the experience and ethics to lead the Macomb County Clerk’s Office — and that is State Senator Steve Bieda. I know we can count on Steve to turn the Clerk’s Office around and I am proud to stand with him,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith.
Bieda’s campaign for Macomb County Clerk and Register of Deeds has already been endorsed by more than 30 local leaders.
“It is an absolute honor to be endorsed by Mark Hackel and Eric Smith, two dedicated leaders who have done so much for Macomb County. I am working hard to earn every vote so that I can work with Mark and Eric on important issues facing our county, like strengthening ethics laws. We cannot afford to have any more politicians abusing the public’s trust,” said State Senator Steve Bieda (D-Warren).
Bieda currently represents the 9th State Senate District that includes the communities of Center Line, Eastpointe, Fraser, Roseville, Warren, and a portion of Clinton Township, and has been a State Senator since 2011. From 2003 to 2008, Bieda served as State Representative for the 25th State House District, representing Warren and Sterling Heights.
